Matakana Country Park
is the realisation of one man's lifelong dream.  Creator, John Baker as a
child  was  sent to boarding school where he befriended a Clydesdale horse. The horses name was
'Lofty'.   Lofty was his  best friend, whom he used to share confidences with. John decided then as
a child he would share his experiences with other children.
